Appearance

Two to four gnarled stems lean inland under a low, wide crown that is cut flat on the sea side and streams away from it, made of thin trailing sprays you can see through, with a few hanging pale strands.

Size Trunk
Young 2 stems
Mature 2-3 stems
Old 2-4 stems

Generation

Tamarisk is the coast's tree: three in four trees on shores, beaches, dunes and salt marshes within 80 blocks of the sea; two in five trees elsewhere within 60 blocks of the sea (not in fields, groves or vineyards); and about a third of valley trees within 300 blocks of the sea.

Tamarisks are young about 22 % of the time, mature 63 % and old 15 %. See Trees for how trees are placed.

In real life

Tamarisk grows by salt marshes and bays such as Għadira, Salini, Ramla, Dwejra and Comino.
