What this wiki covers
How the world differs from vanilla Minecraft. First up: the 16 Maltese tree species that grow across the islands, from carob and olive to the għargħar, Malta's national tree. Then the rock layers: the five layers of Malta's real geology, in every cliff and under every hill. And the seabed: the real sea floor from a 2012 survey, with its own Maltese sea biomes. Coming as the world takes shape: biomes, mob spawning, drops and advancements.
Malta in Minecraft
Welcome to the wiki about Malta in Minecraft: a 1:1 Minecraft Java world of Malta, Gozo and Comino. Every block is one metre, and the land and the seabed are built from real survey data. The world is pure vanilla, so you need no mods to play it.
Did you know…
- … that the Azure Window, which fell in 2017, stands again in the world?
- … that the only crimson fungus outside the Nether grows on top of Fungus Rock, standing in for the real "Maltese fungus"?
- … that the cliffs show Malta's real rock layers, from the official geological map, and that whole hillsides are made of clay?
- … that every field room in the world stands where a real one stands, and that about one in seven has fallen down?
- … that the giren, the dry-stone huts of the Maltese hills, are built from the rock they stand on?
- … that the seabed around the islands comes from a real 2012 survey, so divers will recognise the reefs and drop-offs?
